Although the title is a pretty good remaster visually, it is a bit on the expensive side at 29,99€, I can honestly only recommend starting at 20€ or below. Both visually pleasant and as well great in the audio department, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a must have for puzzle and detective/mystery fans, not to mention a great title even for the classic point and click adventure ones.
The story is pretty intriguing, and there’s definitely a great sense of humor, sometime with lighter tones and sometimes with darker one.
But keep in mind that we have a Hourglass, thus we have a time limit to operate, not to mention Sissel can move only in a limited area, thus we sometimes need to pass through various objects in order to use the correct one. As we assist each character’s danger, we can rewind the time by 4 minutes and manipulate the objects in a way to change their outcome. The gameplay is pretty intuitive and simple, although it requires some thinking and sometimes works in trial and error. Much like Ace Attorney, the title have a pretty varied cast of quirky but charming characters, and as a ghost Sissel their lives as well as their impending deaths, characters who are somehow linked to him.
Here Sissel will indirectly interact with various characters, trying to save their life thanks to his poltergeist like power and solve the mystery of his identity, the reason of his death and find his murder.
Unfortunately, we fail and assist her demise, but luckily we discover being able to rewind the time by 4 minutes and save her successfully. Here the game starts with a strong and simple tutorial, explaining Sissel ability as a ghost to manipulate and possess object, with the objective of saving the girl. It narrate the story of Sissel, who wakes up as amnesiac ghost who find his corpse in the middle of a dumpster right when a girl is held at gunpoint my a mysterious individual. An HD remaster of a Nintendo DS title which came out globally in 2011, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is puzzle-solving adventure game by the hand of the same creator of the famous detective Ace Attorney’s Shu Takumi.
